Hurricane Preparedness Workshop

Friday, July 15, 2022 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Are you hurricane ready?

You've probably heard that question before, but what does that really mean? Are you new to Florida?

The U.S. Census Bureau states that a whopping 27.1 million Americans moved in 2021. According to Move.org, Florida was the number one state that people moved to. In fact, 11 of the top 25 cities that saw the newest residents in 2020 were in Florida alone.

With moving trends showing that residents are relocating to Florida, it's probably safe to say that those residents may have never encountered a hurricane before.

You may be asking...

- What do I need to do to get hurricane ready?

- What can I expect the weather to be like during a big storm and what do the different hurricane category levels mean?

- What happens if my house suffers from damage? Who do I contact?

- What can I do ahead of time to prepare my house for a hurricane?

All these questions and more will be answered at RALSC's hurricane preparedness workshop where you will hear from Keynote speaker, Tom Sorrells, Chief Meteorologist with News 6 WKMG, and other professionals including an insurance company, a roofer, and a home inspector.
